Network Analysis Using Markov Chain Applied to Wildlife Habitat Selection

چکیده
In the present study, behavioral states for habitat selection are examined using a discrete-time Markov chain (DTMC) combined with network model wildlife movement data. Four male boars (Sus scrofa Linnaeus) at Bukhansan National Park in South Korea were continuously tracked an interval of approximately 2 h to 313 days from June 2018 May 2019. The time-series positions matched covariates environmental factors (leaf types and water) field conditions. Stationary probabilities used quantify preference wild boars, including maximum probability (0.714) “broadleaf without water habitat” where in-degree centrality was its (0.54), but out-degree low even (0.17) all states. Betweenness “needleleaf habitat”, suggesting role as bridging between other habitats. Out-closeness scores presented highest values (0.26). Similarly, first hitting time shortest (3.64–5.16 h) slightly longer than one day habitats, water,” “no-leaf water”. provided information on both local behavior general resource-use patterns

15 صفحه اولTeaching animal habitat selection using wildlife tracking equipment
We present a hands-on outdoor activity coupled with classroom discussion to teach students about wildlife habitat selection, the process by which animals choose where to live. By selecting locations or habitats with many benefits (e.g., food, shelter, mates) and few costs (e.g., predators), animals improve their ability to survive and reproduce. Biologists track animal movement using radio tele...
متن کاملregression analysis in markov chain
in a finite stationary markov chain, transition probabilities may depend on some explanatoryvariables. a similar problem has been considered here. the corresponding posteriors are derived andinferences are done using these posteriors. finally, the procedure is illustrated with a real example.
